Job Description



Race Kit & Goodie-bag packers

  • Assist in packing of goodie-bags and race kits

Expo Staff

  • Directing the participants to the various booths for collection of race kits
  • Handing out of goodie-bags and race kits
  • Ensure participants' entry are in order
  • Answer queries of participants

Volunteer Tent Staff

  • Assist in monitoring volunteers' signing in and out
  • Issuing of volunteer equipment and meals
  • Assist in the smooth, orderly bag deposit

Swim Marshals

  • Ensure that participants report at the swim start and they are in the right wave.
  • Take note of their bib numbers.
  • Ensure that participants start the race only after the horn has sounded
  • Direct the participants to the Transition Zone after their swim

Canoeists

  • Canoeists must be minimum 2 star certified in canoeing at least.
  • Ensure the swimmers' safety. Should any swimmer be struggling, act immediately to offer assistance
  • Alert the first-aiders or officials should the need arise

Lifeguards

  • Ensure the swimmers' safety.
  • Rescue any swimmers in trouble, together with the canoeists
  • Alert the medical officers should the need arises

Bike Marshals

  • Direct cyclists to turn the appropriate way at certain intersections.
  • Advise cyclists to stay within traffic cones at corners.
  • Advise and keep any wandering spectators/ pedestrians out of the bike course.
  • Assist and also work with uniformed officers who will be directing traffic out of the course.
  • Control pedestrians crossing at designated points.

Run Marshals

  • Direct runners on the correct run routes
  • Keep pedestrians off the routes
  • Alert medical officers should any runners need medical attention
  • Control pedestrians at designated points
  • Advise runners to stay within the cones along the routes
  • Report any participant who did not follow the course

Lap Recorders

  • Record the number of laps completed by each individual runner/ cyclist for the Run and Bike Leg. Recorder and Number Caller pair together for the task.

Sweeper

  • To trace the last runner and notified to organizer & every check station when the last runner passed the station
  • The sweeper will wear the safety vest and ride a bike. Basic cycling skill is required.

Motor Rider

  • Station at exit of Transaction Zone with helmet
  • Ride carefully in front of the first cyclist and lead him to run on the designed bike route.
  • Alert all stations/officials along the route regarding the first cyclist is coming

Transition Zone Marshals

  • During the Race: Transition Zone Marshals will act traffic cops - Direct participants out the appropriate exits at the transition area. They are also to keep any wandering spectators out of the transition area.
  • After the Race: Continue to keep any non-participants out of the transition area - the most important task at this point is to check participants who are leaving to make sure that they are leaving with the correct bike. The bikes will have numbers on them and the participants will still be numbered (black magic marker on their arms and legs). Simply match up the numbers. Make sure everybody leaves with his or her own bike.

Aid Station Staff (Drink Station)

  • Ensure there are adequate drinks at the allocated drink stations and continuously refill drinks, whenever necessary
  • Hand out drinks to the participants in a safe and professional manner as to minimize disruption to their race
  • Ensure area around the drink station is free of used cups & bottles and undertake to clear as much used cups & bottles away from the race course as possible
  • Pack unused drinks back into the cartons and place them at the side of your drink station

Finishing Chute Staff

  • Help to put on the award medals to all participants who finish the race
  • Cheer & support all participants as they approach the finishing line.
  • Assist in removing the timing chip from every participant at the finishing line. Arrange and bundle the timing chip in groups of 10 and pack them in the allocated boxes.

Finisher Spotter

  • Assist the emcee to identify the coming participant’s race number and name.

Winner Spotter

  • Identify the top 5 winners of each category.

Crossing Point Marshals

  • Keep pedestrians off the routes
  • Alert medical officers should any runners need medical attention
  • Control pedestrians at designated points

VIP Tent Staff

  • Attend to the needs of the VIPs
  • Keep the tables & chair neat & tidy

VIP/Logistics Vehicles Marshals

  • Guide VIP vehicles to park at the allocated lots
  • Assist the uniform group to mend the park car during the race
  • Ensure no vehicles can move to the race route during the race

Prize Presentation Staff

  • Arrange winner trophies, medals & prizes accordingly
  • Assist prize presentation manager to pass out the trophies, medals & prizes to Presenter

First Aid

  • Relevant certification and experience are required
  • To work with safety officer on the race day

Admin Tent Staff

  • Assist in smooth operations of the on-site race registration, helpdesk, distribution of entry packs
  • Mend the enquiry & lost & found counter
  • Provide friendly customer service to all participants, project a professional image and render assistance whenever possible

Body Marking Staff

  • All participants can be easily identified via their body marking as they enter any portion of the race. This is done primarily for the benefit of our timing crew but it is also a safety precaution in the event we need to identify a participant who may require medical assistance.
  • Mark participants with body marking stamps CLEARLY and LEGIBLY on both the upper arms and calves.
    Be prepared to be redeployed to other areas of work where manpower is lacking after the completion of your duties.

Manual Timing Staff

  • Recording the race time of participant by using Manual Time Machine

Photographer

  • Recode every existing moment of the race, athletes and volunteers by camera.
